Kris Benson getting interest
Kris Benson’s biggest player at this point is that of the Philadelphia Phillies, though he’s getting interest out of other camps, as well. Benson has thrown privately for Chuck Lamar, one of the Phillies key scouts, twice in the last week and will throw in front of the Phillies staff again on Saturday. Benson’s agent confirmed the workouts with the Phillies and apparently both sides came away pleased. Benson worked out yesterday with the Atlanta Braves, who have another Clifton client already on staff in Tom Glavine. The Braves interest was probably brought on by questions concerning the health of Chuck James.
Benson is after a one-year contract incentive laden contract, something that both teams mentioned could find beneficial as they bring in more depth to compete for the last spot in their starting rotations.
