Some Dodgers Notes
Some notes out of the Los Angeles Times this morning include some pieces about Russell Martin, Matt Kemp and Takashi Saito.
Kemp talked a little about hearing his name in trade rumors this winter and is happy the Dodgers looked away. Kemp said of the interest shown from other clubs, “It’s a little bit flattering, but I don’t want to be on any team other than this one. This is the team that drafted me. This is the team that had faith in me to get here and this is where I want to be for the rest of my career.” The paper also reports that he’s dropped 20 pounds from a year ago.
Martin has spent the off-season working out and lost some weight due to trimming his body fat from 10% back to 9%. Martin’s agent denied the claim by general manager Ned Colletti of Martin denying a multi-year contract, saying that they hadn’t had any formal talks with the Dodgers in regards to an extension.
Takashi Saito is reportedly close to signing a one-year contract with the Dodgers. Saito is entering his last season under the Dodger’s control.
