Royals avoid arbitration with Greinke, Teahen

The Royals cleaned up the arbitration slate, signing their final two remaining arbitration eligible players to one year deals.

The club signed starting pitcher Zack Greinke to a one-year, $1.4 million contract. Grienke can earn an additional $125,000 in performance bonuses: $25,000 each for pitching 160, 175 and 190 innings, and $50,000 for pitching 215 innings.

Greinke was asking for $1.8 million in arbitration, with the club countering with a $1.15 million offer.

They also signed outfielder Mark Teahen to a $2.3375 million contract for 2008. Teahan could make $50,000 more if he is selected to the All-Star team. Teahen had asked for $2.9 million and had been offered $1.9 million by the Royals as they approached arbitration.
