Sammy Sosa passed over by Royals

Though he has expressed he would like to play in Kansas City in 2008, the Royals have passed on Sammy Sosa’s wishes to play for them, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick.
The Royals believe they are set at the outfield and designated hitter positions and feel that first-year manager Trey Hillman already has enough on his plate without adding Sosa to the mix. With Jose Guillen, David DeJesus and Mark Teahen, the outfield positions are filled, and their designated hitter will likely see a rotation of some of the Royals young first base type players.
Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal said that he thought Sosa was likely to retire for lack of playing time and a decent salary.
