- The Marlins Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews on Monday in hopes of getting an idea of when he will be ready to rejoin the starting rotation.
- The Cincinnati first base job is expected to be Joey Votto’s to lose. Scott Hatteberg still figures to get a good amount of playing time.
- Cardinals’ general manager John Mozeliak said he expects Colby Rasmus to reach the majors this season. He is supposed to be given a chance to win the starting center field job during Spring Training, but chances are he is sent to Triple-A to continue his development.
- Kris Benson is expected to “throw for a handful of teams” on Saturday. The Phillies have shown major interest in Benson, having seen him throw three times this winter. They saw him the first time in December when he had a workout similar to that of tomorrow, and have also had him in for two private sessions.
- After working out with the team, the Padres are showing interest in Mike Sweeney.
