According to Hal McCoy, the Cincinnati Reds and Brandon Phillips have agreed to a multi-year contract. The exact length and financial terms have not yet been announced, but the upcoming arbitration hearing between the two has been canceled.

In his first year of arbitration, Phillips was seeking $4.5 million, nearly $2 million more than the Reds $2.7 million offer. The contract would have to be for at least four years in length to buy out any of Phillips free agent years.
