J.J. Hardy, Brewers avoid arbitration hearing

The Brewers and J.J. Hardy were scheduled to have an arbitration hearing early next week, however, that will not be needed anymore after the two sides agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.65 million deal.

The deal came in just below the mid-point of $2.725 million. Hardy was seeking $3.05 million in arbitration, while the Brewers offered $2.4 million.

Hardy will be eligible for arbitration two more times before becoming a free agent following the 2010 season.
