Atlanta Braves outfielder, Jeff Francoeur, spent the off-season working out with a personal trainer at a camp designed for football players preparing for the NFL combine. In his work, Francoeur added 17 pounds of muscle to his frame and is “noticeably more muscular in his shoulders, neck and legs.”
After spending the previous off-season working on his plate coverage, work that saw his batting average jump 33 points from 2006 to 2007, he seemed to lose his power stroke as his home runs dipped from 29 to 19.
“I definitely wanted to add some power. I really want to be able to hit 30 home runs; there’s no reason I can’t do that,” Francoeur said.
