Ozzie Guillen sold on Nick Swisher in center
Today, Ozzie Guillen revealed that Nick Swisher will primarily play center field for the White Sox during Spring Training and hopes to not move him around too much during the regular season either.
“It’s not easy to move everywhere, especially if you’re going to play every day,” Guillen said. “Like I always say, you’re not going to bring a Gold Glove center fielder. But he played center field before. He played center field for the Oakland A’s, so why couldn’t he play for us.”
If Guillen is sold on Swisher in center, that means nothing but good things for Carlos Quentin to be the team’s starter in left field. Jerry Owens would have been the favorite had the White Sox needed a center fielder, but with Swisher apparently filling that position, Quentin’s bat will fit a lot easier into left field than the defensive advantage that Owens may give.
