Giambi to play more first base for Yankees

During the off-season, new Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi called Jason Giambi and told him he needed him at first base this year.

If Giambi is able to remain healthy and play first base for the Yankees, it will allow them to play Johnny Damon in left field and Hideki Matsui in the designated hitter spot, seemingly the only way to get all three of them on the field at the same time.

This can’t be good news for Morgan Ensberg, who signed a minor league contract with the Yankees hoping to win the first base job in camp.
