The Tigers will trade Brandon Inge
Brandon Inge wants to play third base. The Tigers traded for Miguel Cabrera, a player with the potential to become one of the best third basemen in the history of the game, over the winter to be their thid basemen. Something has to give, but what will it be?
The Tigers would hope that Inge would want to stay on a winning team and be a versatile player and, perhaps, be the team’s starting catcher again as soon as 2009. However, Inge wants to play third base and would rather leave the team to play third base for someone else than remain on the Tigers and not play there.
So, the Tigers have accepted the fact that having an unhappy Inge on their team will not do them any good. General manager Dave Dombrowski will trade Inge as soon as he can find a team that will take on his contract and provide the Tigers with “some kind of appreciable talent in return.”
Inge has three years and $19.1 million left on his current contract that he signed just one off-season ago.
