Orlando Hudson cleared to play
Diamondbacks’ second baseman Orlando Hudson has been cleared to by the team’s training staff to be a full participant in drills during Spring Training. Despite being cleared, manager Bob Melvin hopes to ease him back into the swing of things.
After suffering a torn ligament in his left hand, Hudson sat out every game after September 5, including having to watch the National League Championship Series from the dugout.
“Before games start, you get a read on where the soreness will be, if indeed he has any, so I’ll kind of monitor that,” Melvin said. “He’s the kind of guy that doesn’t need to get 100 at-bats during Spring Training. He might be a guy that I want to back off early, but until we get through the first few days of hitting off pitchers and so forth, I won’t really know.”
