Mike Gonzalez on track to return

Mike Gonzalez, who continues to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, is expected to return to the Braves in early June. On Thursday, Gonzalez threw 15 pitches at 50 percent and 30 at 75 percent from the mound with no setbacks. He’s scheduled to begin throwing breaking balls next week, a huge hurdle in his comeback attempts.
He said being in camp and getting so close to a return is making him anxious.
“Getting antsy. It’s like taking time out and watching everybody play in recess.”
