Brian Giles passes the test
By running the bases yesterday without pain, Brian Giles has put himself back on track to return to the lineup by Opening Day. Giles is attempting to return from a microfracture surgery to his right knee.
“Everything is going good,” Giles said. “I’m going through full workouts. No setbacks so far since the surgery and that is a good sign.”
The Padres are hoping to have Giles back in the lineup by the middle of March as he works toward Opening Day.
“He’s getting the reps in the cage and all the fundamental stuff done,” Black said. “He may not be doing every drill the outfielders do, but he is progressing to a point where he should be in games by the middle of March and that will give him enough game conditions to hopefully be ready by opening day.”
