Wagner has problems with Michigan player
In their exhibition today against the Michigan Wolverines, the Mets’ closer, Billy Wagner, seemed to have a bit of an issue with a Michigan player trying to win a game. Michigan’s centerfielder, Kevin Cislo, attempted a bunt against Wagner in the third inning. The bunt went foul and Wagner says it’s a good thing because he would have drilled the next hitter if it was fair.
“It’s hot and I’m just trying to work on some pitches, and they’re bunting like it’s the College World Series,” Wagner said. “Go do that against Villanova.”
Since when was it a problem for players to try to win, Billy? Perhaps your team should have tried a bit harder. With today’s tie against a collegiate team, and September of 2007 still in the front of everyone’s mind, it’s been a while since the Mets have been able to enjoy a victory.
