Hanley Ramirez to bat leadoff

Hanley Ramirez will continue to be the Marlins leadoff hitter in 2008. With the absence of Miguel Cabrera, the Marlins are going to have to find a #3 hitter, but manager Fredi Gonzalez says they aren’t moving Ramirez out of his comfort spot to do so.
“If the season starts tomorrow, we will lead off with Hanley,” Gonzalez said. “We are going to leave him in that position. I think he’s comfortable, and he likes it there. We’ll see. If we feel like we’re struggling with that middle of the lineup, then we’ll address it like we did last year.”
With Hanley batting leadoff, the Marlins will probably go with Jeremy Hermida as their #3 hitter. Dan Uggla could also be a candidate to move down in the order.
