Scott Spiezio wanted by police

The Irvine Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Scott Spiezio, a St. Louis Cardinals utilityman.

The warrant alleges Spiezio of driving under influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, hit and run, aggravated assault, assault and battery.

When Irvine police responded to a report of a single-car crash at 12:20 a.m. on Dec. 30, they found a 2004 BMW registered to Spiezio that had been crashed into a curb and fence. The police also located one of Spiezio’s neighbors, who told officers that he was assaulted by Spiezio at their condo complex a short distance from the crash site.

Spiezio missed a portion of last season while receiving treatment for substance abuse problems, though he wouldn’t disclose the substance(s).

  1. He learns from the best, his manager!

  2. Yeah… You would think that Cardinals players would have learned about drinking and driving by now. I guess an embarrassing situation for the manager and the death of a teammate isn’t enough.

Hopefully Spiezio gets the help needed though. I hate seeing people struggle with drug/alcohol problems.
