Shawn Green, a major league outfielder for 15 years, has decided to retire in order to remain at home with his family. Green indicated that he received interest from six or seven teams, but none of them were close enough to his California home to consider.
“I had planned on retiring at the end of this contract,” Green said yesterday. “If something where I could live at home popped up, then I would have had to take that under consideration. But I still don’t know what I would have done.”
Green finishes his career with a .283/.355/.494 line and 328 home runs.
