Randy Johnson edges closer to game situations

Randy Johnson is moving closer to coming all the way back from back surgery. He took a step closer to that return on Thursday when he faced hitters in batting practice for the first time this spring.
Johnson threw 53 pitches and is scheduled to throw another round of batting practice in three or four days. After that, it appears he’s going to try getting on the mound in Cactus League games.
“Hopefully we’ll sit down and see where we go from there,” Johnson said.
