Verlander to start on Opening Day

In not so much of a surprise, Justin Verlander will get the Opening Day nod for the Tigers against Kansas City.
It will be the first time in his career that Verlander will start the team’s opener, but manager Jim Leyland tried to downplay the importance of the start.
“I could have picked any of our guys,” Leyland said about his five starters. “I would have been happy with any of them, but I picked him. He was consistent all year last year. He’s pretty good.”
