Odalis Perez limited to minor league work
Odalis Perez is having problems obtaining a work visa, limiting him to just minor league camp at this time. When he gets his work visa, he will then be able to pitch against major league competition.
Perez threw his first outing on the back fields today. He pitched three innings and retired the nine batters in order. He threw 36 pitches, 30 of which were strikes.
After Perez gets his work visa, we’ll get to see him against people that will offer a more telling sign on his standing for a roster spot. Perez signed a minor league deal with the Nationals, and is currently battling Matt Chico — who allowed three runs on four hits in three innings against the Dodgers today — for the team’s fifth starter.
