UPDATE (3-5-08; 7:10 PM): Moises Alou’s groin injury turns out to be that of a hernia. Alou will undergo hernia surgery and is expected to miss most, if not all, of the month of April.
Alou first injured the groin against the Braves on Monday, but the pain wouldn’t subside, leading to the examination today.

New York Mets pitcher John Maine is one of few players who took their renewal in stride, saying he’s just thankful for what he has. Maine was renewed at $450,000 for 2008, just a $59,000 raise as the pitcher comes off a 15-win season.
