Torre wants Dodgers to run more
Recalling how tough it was to manage against the Los Angeles Angels, Joe Torre is trying to adopt the same style of play with his Los Angeles Dodgers. Torre wants the Dodgers to run more often, whether that be stealing a base or going from first to third on a single, he likes the pressure it puts on teams.
Torre didn’t have to do this with the Yankees when his lineup was loaded with 30+ home run threats, but he doesn’t have that luxury at his current job.
“We have a lot of young players and we don’t have many batters who can hit 30 or 40 home runs,” said the Dodgers starting shortstop, Rafael Furcal.
In fact, the Dodgers only have one player on their current roster that hit more than 20 home runs last year, and that was Andruw Jones, who did it with the Atlanta Braves.
