Rangers’ McCarthy shut down due to forearm

Brandon McCarthy, a right handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers, was shut down after going just one inning in today’s game. With the latest news, his status for the beginning of the season is unknown.

In his only outing of the spring thus far, McCarthy allowed just one hit before complaining to pitching coach Mark Conner about stiffness in his forearm, who chose to shut him down.

“I was planning to throw two innings,” McCarthy said. “It flared up again. Knowing the area, it’s not the best feeling in the world.”
