Braves closer ready to go to work
After missing the beginning of spring training with different ailments, Rafael Soriano is ready to go to work to sharpen up for the season. Soriano missed the first two weeks of Grapefruit League action with a stomach virus, then discomfort to his elbow. He threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and is convinced that he’s ready for game action.
“It was a normal bullpen for me,” said Soriano. “I threw all my pitches. It was good today.”
Soriano wants to pitch in a game as soon as Thursday, and doesn’t seem to be worried about the time he’s missed.
“I don’t need to throw, like, 20 innings,” he said. “Last year I threw eight or nine innings — that was it.”
In fact, Soriano threw nine innings last spring before starting the season with five hitless innings.
