Harden on Yankees radar

The Yankees have “expressed interest” in Rich Harden, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

She says that regardless of the fact that Harden has been hurt for most of the last two seasons, the A’s aren’t likely to give much of a discount should teams come calling for him. In reality, why would you? Putting his injured past behind him, he’s still a young pitcher that is healthy right now. Given that he’s proven he’s healthy, you have to negotiate a trade with the mindset that you’re acquiring, and dealing, a potential ace that still has his best years ahead of him.

Slusser speculates that the A’s would “probably” ask for Ian Kennedy, and “perhaps pitchers Alan Horne and Jeff Marquez as well” in exchange for Harden.
