Beckett to start on disabled list

Not much surprising news here, but Josh Beckett will be placed on the disabled list to give the team room to purchase the contract of Kevin Cash. Cash will likely serve as the personal catcher of Tim Wakefield this season.
Beckett’s DL stint will be retroactive to March 19, meaning Becket will be able to come off the DL on April 3. Beckett will be brought along slowly by the Red Sox, but he did turn in two innings in a minor league game on Sunday. If he can continue to work pain free innings, and not have his back tighten up to where he can’t appear in a game, it shouldn’t be much after April 3 that Beckett is back with the team.
