Phillies talking to Reds, Giants about Helms
When the Phillies signed Pedro Feliz in the off-season, it pretty much said Wes Helms time in Philadelphia was all but over. The Phillies are currently seeking a left handed reliever in exchange for Helms and have two teams on their radar.
The Phillies are talking to the Giants, who are in desperate need of infield help, for one of their left handed relievers, Steve Kline. They’re also talking to the Reds about the availability of Mike Stanton.
A trade with the Giants would seem more likely than the other, as the Reds should be set at first and third base for quite some time with Joey Votto and Edwin Encarnacion manning the positions.
Paul Hagen indicates that if no trade can be worked out, the Phillies may just simply release Helms.
