Barrett to DL with arm injury

The Padres placed Michael Barrett on the disabled list today after he suffered an injury while throwing the ball back to Greg Maddux in today’s game. Barrett said he heard a “pop” in his elbow when he made the throw to Maddux.

A stress test administered by a Giants’ team doctor raised a red flag, showing signs of the ulner collateral ligament. The ulner collateral ligament is the same ligament that pitchers have replaced when having Tommy John surgery.

In addition to possible ligament damage, the team is going to do tests to see if he has possible nerve damage because he reported that he felt a tingling sensation in his ring and pinky finger on his throwing hand.
