Colon has setback in attempts to return
Bartolo Colon suffered a strained muscle in his side, scratching him from a minor league start and sending him to the 7-day disabled list for the Triple-A team. The strain isn’t expected to be anything serious, but it does cause a bit of concern as the right hander is trying to make it back to the major leagues with the Reds Sox.
“I don’t think there’s anybody (who) thinks this is anything” major, Francona said. “There was not a lot of complaining on his side of this. It was more the trainers and the medical people in Pawtucket (who) said, ‘OK, he has this. Let’s stop it.’”
Colon will be re-examined tomorrow prior to the Red Sox home opener. He is eligible to come off the disabled list on Friday and is only expected to miss one start.
