After having the Royals run wild on him yesterday, Jorge Posada will undergo an MRI on his shoulder today to see if there is anything seriously wrong with his throwing arm. Right now the Yankees are calling it a dead arm that should be healed with rest, however, they want to be on the safe side with the MRI.
Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi, who knows a thing or two about catching, said, “the ball’s just not coming out of his arm the way you’d like it to. There’s a weakness there, and we need to get his arm strength to where it needs to be.”
The Yankees will have to decide if they need to bring in another catcher. Right now, Morgan Ensberg will be their backup catcher while Posada is out.
