Braves place Moylan on DL

With two closers, Rafael Soriano and Mike Gonzalez, already on the disabled list, the third person in line for saves in the Braves bullpen will be joining them.

The Braves placed Peter Moylan on the disabled list because of discomfort in his right elbow. The relief closer felt the discomfort while pitching in the ninth inning of the Braves win Friday night in Washington. He underwent an MRI on Monday but the results haven’t been released.

While Soriano and Moylan are out, Manny Acosta will get the bulk of the save opportunities out of the Atlanta bullpen. Buddy Carlyle was recalled from Triple-A to take Moylan’s place on the roster. Carlyle could potentially get the start on Saturday in place of Tom Glavine, should Glavine not pass the test with his hamstring.
