Erik Bedard placed on disabled list

Today the Mariners announced they had placed Erik Bedard on the disabled list. They’re hoping that with the time off, the hip injury that has forced him to miss two of his last three starts will completely heal.
In the meantime, R.A. Dickey will start in Bedard’s place. The corresponding roster move will not be announced until tomorrow.
“We have said consistently that we’re not going to rush Erik back,” said Mariners’ manager John McLaren. “At this point, we thought it made the most sense to go ahead and place him on the DL. It should not change when he’s available to make his next start, and gives us the ability to add another player in the meantime.”
