Torn lat to keep Cordero out 4-6 weeks

Chad Cordero’s injury woes continue to be a problem. As mentioned last night, Cordero left his appearance last night with an apparent injury. Today’s MRI confirmed that Cordero has an acute tear of the latissimus dorsi muscle.

The injury will keep Cordero out for at least four weeks and maybe up to 8 weeks. With the Nationals not going anywhere in the standings this year, they may be better off just shutting Cordero down for the year instead of having him come back and continue to struggle.

Jon Rauch will continue to close for the Nationals until Cordero can overcome the string of injuries he’s been going through.
