Gallardo possibly out for year with torn ACL
Yovani Gallardo was involved in a collision yesterday afternoon with the Cubs’ Reed Johnson and it may have cost him his season.
Gallardo hurt himself yesterday trying to jump over Johnson as Johnson was trying to beat the first baseman to the bag on a bunt play. Gallardo appeared to have been seriously injured in the collision but got up and shook the injury off and went out to pitch another inning.
After being examined back in Milwaukee, it turns out that Gallardo has torn the ACL in his right knee and may be done for the year. The team will wait until the swelling in his knee goes down before making any decisions on surgery.
Gallardo missed the first three weeks of the season because of surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.
The team has already placed Gallardo on the disabled list and recalled Dave Bush from Triple-A to replace him.
