The Atlanta Braves have placed John Smoltz on the disabled list with a “severely inflamed biceps tendon and an inflamed rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.”
Smoltz had his shoulder examined by Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated after giving his arm some rest.

After injuries to Mike Hampton, Rafael Soriano, Peter Moylan and Tom Glavine depleted their pitching staff, the Braves are moving closer to getting a few of those names back.

Listening to the Braves telecast of tonight’s game and they just announced that Tom Glavine has been sent to the disabled list. Chuck James will be recalled from Richmond to start in his place tomorrow.
The training staff didn’t believe he had enough strength in his right hamstring to make his start.
