To make room for Matt Belisle’s start tomorrow, the Reds placed David Weathers on the disabled list with a sore elbow.
Weathers was removed from yesterday’s game with the injury, though an MRI revealed nothing to be concerned over.

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that Matt Belisle could return to the Reds as soon as Monday. Josh Fogg is currently scheduled to start Monday’s game, but it’s looking like Belisle could move into the spot.
Belisle allowed just one run over seven innings Wednesday at Triple-A Louisville with the team’s general manager looking on.

Dusty Baker announced this morning that the Cincinnati Reds have told Mike Stanton that they’re going to release him. The decision will cost the team $3 million this season and $500,000 in 2009 as they will have to eat Stanton’s contract.

Not that it’s much of a surprise, as they don’t really have any other choice, but Aaron Harang has been given the Opening Day assignment for the Reds. The Reds will take on the Diamondbacks on Opening Day, with Brandon Webb starting across from Harang.
It will be Harang’s third consecutive Opening Day start.
