Marlins send Willingham to disabled list

The Marlins have placed Josh Willingham on the disabled list with back stiffness. They called Brett Carroll up from Triple-A to take his roster spot.
It seems that the Marlins are going to go with Luis Gonzalez in left field until Willingham gets back. Gonzalez is in the lineup tonight.
The Marlins also made a […]

Helms traded to the Marlins

Cameron Maybin optioned to Double-A

After going 0-for-5 against the Astros this afternoon, Cameron Maybin’s bid to become the Marlins starting centerfielder came to an end. He was optioned to Double-A Carolina after the game, which essentially hands the job to Alejandro De Aza and Cody Ross.

Hanley Ramirez to bat leadoff

Hanley Ramirez will continue to be the Marlins leadoff hitter in 2008. With the absence of Miguel Cabrera, the Marlins are going to have to find a #3 hitter, but manager Fredi Gonzalez says they aren’t moving Ramirez out of his comfort spot to do so.
