Mets nearing deal for Vargas

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the New York Mets are close to signing Claudio Vargas to a minor league contract. The Mets are looking for options to help fill a void left in the rotation due to injuries to both Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernandez.
