The question whether Brad Lidge would be ready to start the season for the Phillies or not was answered today when he was placed on the disabled list. Lidge’s DL stint was backdated to March 21, meaning he’ll be eligible to come off the DL on April 5.

Not to come as a surprise, the Phillies are expected to go with Tom Gordon as their relief closer while Brad Lidge is on the shelf after knee surgery. While Gordon is plan B, Ryan Madson and J.C. Romero form Plan C for the Phillies.
